the Oracle® Dual Boiler

Q: What does it mean for an espresso machine to have a dual boiler?

A dual‑boiler espresso machine, like the Oracle® Dual Boiler, houses two independent stainless‑steel boilers—one PID‑controlled boiler dedicated to brewing espresso and a second boiler reserved for steaming milk. This architecture lets you pull shots and steam simultaneously while keeping brew water at a rock‑solid temperature, delivering faster workflow and more consistent flavor in every cup.

Q: How does the new Auto Dial‑in and Auto Puck Systems improve my espresso shots?

Breville’s next‑generation CPU monitors each extraction with precision sensors and flow‑meters. If a shot drifts outside ideal pressure or flow parameters, the Auto Dial‑in System instantly calculates a grind adjustment and instructs the Auto Puck System’s motorized burrs to fine‑tune the grind size. The machine then automatically grinds, doses, and tamps the next puck—quietly and accurately—so your very next shot hits target flavor and crema without the usual trial‑and‑error dialing‑in.

Q: Why does a true dual boiler design matter?

Because the brew and steam boilers operate independently, there’s no temperature tug‑of‑war between pulling espresso and frothing milk. The brew boiler stays locked at the optimal extraction temperature while the steam boiler delivers powerful, on‑demand steam. The result is richer espresso, silkier microfoam and seamless back‑to‑back drink preparation—advantages single‑boiler and heat‑exchange machines can’t match.

Q: Can I switch between fully automatic and manual control?

Yes. A single swipe on the 5.7‑inch HD touchscreen toggles between Auto Mode—“Make it for me” with full automation—and Manual Mode—“Make it myself” for barista‑level control over grind size, dose, pre‑infusion and more. Even in Manual Mode, convenience features such as Auto Puck and Auto MilQ stay available, so you can mix hands‑on creativity with time‑saving automation whenever you like.

Q: Does the Oracle® Dual Boiler handle alternative milk types?

Absolutely. The latest Auto MilQ steam wand features dedicated settings for soy, oat, almond and other plant‑based milks. Higher steam pressure, refined wand geometry and smart temperature control whip every milk type into silky‑smooth microfoam—no guesswork required.

Q: Which drinks are pre‑programmed on the touchscreen?

The Oracle® Dual Boiler comes with 14 café‑style recipes one tap away: Espresso • Americano • Latte • Cappuccino • Flat White • Piccolo • Mocha • Iced Latte • Espresso Martini • Espresso Shakerato • Latte Shakerato • Hot Chocolate • Babyccino • Tea

Q: Do I need to descale the Oracle® Dual Boiler?

Yes, regular descaling is essential to keep your Oracle® Dual Boiler operating at peak performance. Over time, minerals in water can build up inside the machine and affect extraction temperature, steam pressure, and overall taste. Descaling helps prevent this buildup—ensuring consistently smooth operation and delicious results in every cup.

Q: How do I descale the Oracle® Dual Boiler?

Descaling the Oracle® Dual Boiler is now simpler than ever. The machine features motorized valves that automatically open and close, so there’s no need to reach for a screwdriver. Just follow the guided steps on the touchscreen using Breville’s the Machine Descaler™ sachet for a smooth, hands-free process that helps protect performance and flavor.

Q: How often should I clean the Oracle® Dual Boiler?

We recommend cleaning the Oracle® Dual Boiler’s group head and steam wand weekly if used daily. Descaling should be done every 2–3 months or as prompted by the machine, depending on water hardness. Regular maintenance helps preserve rich flavor, extends the life of your machine, and ensures café-quality coffee every time.

Q: How do I clean the Oracle® Dual Boiler?

Cleaning the Oracle® Dual Boiler is simple with the help of Breville’s dedicated cleaning products and built-in guidance. Use the Group Head Cleaner™ to remove coffee oils and residue, and the Steam Wand Cleaner™ to eliminate milk buildup. The touchscreen walks you through each cleaning step, making routine maintenance easy and effective.
